Are you suggesting that Printers replace Direct Mail with Email Marketing?

Not at all. Although the ideal marketing method can vary from case to case, we believe that, in general, a multi-channel approach is best. Combining the strengths of both direct mail and email marketing will create the strongest impression on prospects and give your campaigns the greatest opportunity for success. This is one of the reasons why email marketing is such a ripe market segment for printers. You're already making your clients look great on paper, why not the email inbox as well?

What is the difference between the self-service plans and the full-service plans?

Both self-service and full-service subscribers have access to the exact same ezMail features. The difference is that full-service plans include a set number of campaign conversions each month at a deeply discounted rate. Full-service subscribers also have the option to purchase additional conversions at 50% off their normal rate.

What is the difference between conversion templates and built-in HTML templates?

Both conversion templates and the built-in HTML templates can be used as starting points for your email campaigns, but they are edited in different ways. Conversion templates are InDesign files that you download to your computer, edit in Adobe InDesign and then submit to the ezMail team for conversion into a new campaign. ezMail's built-in HTML templates can be edited from within the application using the campaign editor. Basic changes to text and images can easily be achieved using the campaign editor, but major changes to a template may require some HTML coding skill. Having a template converted to HTML allows you to design in page-layout software and bypass any HTML coding issues. Since a member of the ezMail team must do every coversion by hand, there is an additional charge for this service. For more information about conversion services, click here.

What level of technical knowledge does a user need? Do I need to know HTML?

Sending basic email marketing campaigns based upon an existing template requires very little technical knowledge. The campaign editor interface is similar to Microsoft Word, and should be familiar to most users. Creating custom campaigns or making heavy modifications to a template will require HTML coding skill. Users who are concerned about campaign editing may be interested in ezMail's conversion services or full-service plans.

If I have a campaign converted, can I edit or reuse it later?

Yes, if you would like to reuse a converted design at a later date (ie. a recurring newsletter or promotion), previously sent emails can be easily duplicated and modified with the built-in editor to create a new campaign. If a text element in your campaign was converted to an image, that text will not be editable using the built-in editor (although the image may be replaced).

What if my design calls for a non web-safe font?

We strongly advise using web-safe fonts as much as possible (list of web-safe fonts available here). If you want to preserve the appearance of a non web-safe font in your email, it must be converted to an image. It is okay to include images in your campaigns, but there are some accessibility concerns to keep in mind when using images for text:

  • Many email clients default to "images off" for HTML email. If vital content is hidden in images, the effectiveness of your email marketing will suffer.
  • Always specify "title" and/or "alt" tags for your images. These tags add descriptive information to the code that most email clients will display as a backup if images are disabled.

Will ezMail put its own logo or links on the emails I send?

No, ezMail does not brand your campaigns in any way. We want you to get all the credit for your email marketing services.

Can I purchase or rent an email list from ezMail or another source?

No, ezMail is 100% permission-based, meaning users may only utilize our system to send opt-in, CAN-SPAM compliant email marketing to their own lists. If you are reselling email marketing services to your clients, you must apply the same standards to their lists. For more information about acceptable use of the ezMail system, please see our Anti-Spam policy and Terms of Use.

Can ezMail handle automated mailings?

Yes, ezMail has powerful autoresponder functionality that allows users to automate mailings based upon the amount of time a contact has been on a list. For example, you could set up a sequence of autoresponder campaigns in which the first email is set to go out as soon as a contact joins the list, the second email goes out after the contact has been on the list for 5 days the third goes out after 10 days and so on. Time increments can be set in hours, days, weeks, months and years.

What is ezMail's target business demographic?

Our target is small to medium sized commercial printers. We seek to offer a product that printers can use to market their own services and use to open up a new revenue stream by reselling email marketing services to their clients.
